Our journey begins with a scenic 1 to 1.5-hour drive east of Ulaanbaatar to Tsonjin Boldog, home to the magnificent stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan astride his loyal steed. Standing at an impressive 45 meters (147.6 feet), this statue is the tallest and largest equestrian statue in the world. The view from the base is awe-inspiring, but a short elevator ride through the horseβs head and a few steps will take you to a viewing platform atop the horse’s mane, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
Following our visit to the statue, we’ll enjoy a delightful picnic lunch before heading to our next destination: the Aryapala Meditation Monastery in Terelj National Park. This picturesque park is known for its unique rock formations and serene landscapes. The monastery, originally built in the 19th century and restored in the late 1990s, provides a tranquil atmosphere and stunning views of the surrounding area.
After a serene day of exploration, we’ll conclude with a relaxing dinner at the park before returning to Ulaanbaatar
We'll start by meeting at your hotel, then head to the Chinggis Khan statue complex as our first stop of the day. We'll take our time exploring the various sections of the complex.
After lunch, we'll embark on a scenic drive to Terelj National Park, where we'll visit the serene Aryapal Monastery. Following a pleasant walk and exploration of the surrounding area, we'll enjoy an early dinner before heading back to the capital.
It's a good idea to let your guide know about any fear of heights you may have beforehand, especially if you prefer to explore parts of the Chinggis Khaan Statue complex without going to the panoramic viewing area.
For packing, focus on essentials like a water bottle for hydration, comfortable walking shoes for the monastery visit, and keep your luggage light as Nomadic Trails will provide meals and drinks during the tour.
